MAGMA Productions presents "GLOW," a dance performance and interactive installation that celebrates the creativity of movement and dance. The installation explores light and shadow, with a massive, multicolored shadow wall and fanciful glowing objects, all brought to life by the moving body. The program opens with a dance performance by MAGMA Director Sarah Slifer Swift and Laura Tanguay, followed by time for audience interaction with the installation. This event is appropriate for all ages. MAGMA Productions is the project arm of Movement Arts Gloucester MA (MAGMA) education and performance center. "Glow" is co-created and performed by MAGMA Director Sarah Slifer Swift and Laura Tanguay. Sarah Slifer Swift has been on faculty of Boston Ballet School, Salem State University, George Washington University, Amsterdam Hoogschool voor de Kunst, and Scotland's National Center for Dance. She is a Massachusetts Cultural Council Choreography Fellow with a penchant for creating work for unusual places: islands, historic houses, ice factories ... and occasionally also for theaters. Laura Tanguay has a BA in Expressive Arts Therapy from Endicott College and is a certified personal trainer. She delivers high-energy movement classes at MAGMA and the Manchester Athletic Center (MAC) that explore strength, creativity, and empowerment for all ages.
